The Blue Bottle Club by Penelope J. Stokes

I chose this book for the What's in a Name Challenge category: A book with an emotion in the title: Baltimore Blues, Say You're Sorry, Dreams of Joy.

The story starts on December 25, 1929 in Asheville, NC. A group of four teenage girls: Mary Love Buchanan, Letitia Cameron, Adora Archer and Eleanor James write what they wish for their futures on a piece of paper and put them in a blue bottle and hide in the attic of the Cameron house.

In 1994, the Cameron house is torn down and a construction worker finds the blue bottle and gives it to the local reporter, Brendan Delaney.  At first she doesn't really care about the bottle but something makes her open it.  She reads these wishes and convinces her boss to let her find these ladies and get their stories.

This is a Christian novel but it weaves God into the stories very well instead of overwhelming story.  I don't usually read Christian fiction for that reason.  The story is very sweet and it brought me to tears several times!
