For some time I have been thinking about hosting my own reading challenge. I thought about doing the Monthly Key Word Challenge but I cannot find the woman that hosted this year. Her blog has been deleted. So in the middle of the night I thought of this idea. The characters are the most important part of a great story, other than the plot. We love them. We hate them. We want to be them. We want to smack them in the back of the head! I hope that you will find some wonderful characters through this reading challenge.

I'll be joining. Just need to take a look at my books and see what might work.
I found her! She's doing the key word challenge again and another one.
I'll be back in a bit to sign up for this one. I won't complete it of course but it sure looks like fun! Thanks for thinking of it and hosting.
Thanks Book Dragon....I am glad I did not go ahead with that one!!
This is very tempting as I am a character in a book coming out in 2014.
Congratulations on being hostess of your first. Creative! If only your mission were: "fulfill as much of these as you can" instead of must-fulfill-each. I'm good with everything except "changes form"; especially since I'm not into vampires/werewolves and you don't allow anthologies/short stories.
Just a thought for next year but if I can find a book I already own that works, I'm in. I love unique minds like yours! Carolyn. www.CMRiedel.WordPress.com
Carolyn, thank you for your comment. There are many ways a person can change form other than by being a vampire/werewolf. Example books: The Lovely Bones, Invisible Monsters, Uglies or Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
Also the challenge is about the protagonist or the main character, if you could find an anthology/short story book that features the same character - it would be allowed.
Not every challenge is for everyone....
I know. Goodness knows I do many. It's dang tempting every option but 1 fits and one must complete all. Heeheehee.
"The Lovely Bones" works because it depicted the girl alive and a ghost later. My ghost or witch books are my best bet, if I think of any that change. Oh! The goblin in "Tattered & Torn" by Juliet Blackwell, if I receive it for my birthday. Five days! :) Carolyn www.CMRiedel.WordPress.com
I meant to say, my ghosts tend to already be ghosts. I want to read "Tattered & Torn" *this* year and was angered by the "Lovely Bones" film alone. Won't be taking up that novel. However I'm blessed with lots more to look through. It's fun seeing if a theme fits. :-)
I'm in!! Post will come later on..
Great concept! It looks like fun.
This sounds fun! Thank you for hosting!
Kari,
You linked back to this post instead of yours....I am glad to have you in my challenge...
Kari, I fixed it!!
Bren, glad to have you along on this challenge!!
Sounds like a fun challenge, I'm looking forward to joining in. Thanks for hosting!
I'm in!
After you joined one of my trio with eager abandon, you inspired me! It impressed me. No seeing books fit up front, you just liked my theme and dove in. Well I've made it to yours too. Happy new year! Carolyn. http://cmriedel.wordpress.com/2013/12/23/physicalbooksmattertome/
Oops, thank you for fixing my link! Sorry about that. Does anyone have any suggestions for books that would fit the real life person in a fictional story? I'm wishing I'd saved the Nicholas Flamel books for this year now!
I made a mistake in my link of whitstable and it doesn't look like I can remove it myself. Would you remove the first of the two links thank you.
I am so sorry, I have made a mistake again :-(
I have linked my last book to the sign up linky.
could you fix it again. Thank you and sorry.
Whoops! Looks like Jane Harfeld isn't the only error-prone person in this challenge =) I accidentally put a review in the Wrap-Up post linky. So sorry!
No problem!! I have done it myself!!
Thank you for the comments on my blog. I had seen the Kelley Armstrong challenge but as I have read most of them and not quite ready for rereading them yet I chose not to take part - and at the time it was announced I had already joined over 30 challenges and decided that's enough :-)
Hi KARI! Susan Wittig Albert wrote two mystery series based on Beatrix Potter and others. The first of each are: "The Tale Of Hilltop Farm" and "Death At Bishop's Keep" (pseudonym 'Robin Paige'). Queens have appeared in "Ghosts I Have Been" (Richard Peck), "If Books Could Kill" (Kate Carlisle), and King Edward in "Room With A Clue" (Kate Kingsbury). A USA president probably appears in Julie Hyzy's chef series.

Hi Carolyn! Thank you!! Those sound great, especially the Beatrix Potter ones! I'll have to check those out. Thanks for the suggestions!!
I'm glad you found my responses, Kari and anyone else who finds them helpful! Rebecca M. Hale also occurs to me. Her personages from real California history aren't present but unveiled and built into her plots in remarkable ways. Sometimes fictional, sometimes little-known San Francisco (and other) history. The first novel is "How To Wash A Cat".
I have now finished this challenge, it has been fun.
Thanks for hosting.

I finished the challenge today! Thank you for hosting, this was so much fun!
As you know I described in my blog a tentative example in #55, so you had opportunity to let me know if "Time For Andrew" didn't fit the bill. Along with this, you may eliminate #63. It occurs to me "Eerie Tales Of The Old West" is out because short stories aren't permitted; though abundant with famous real personages. I had lots of back-up. LOL! The winner is "Code Red At The Supermall". I hope everyone enjoys my selections and accompanying reviews. Carolyn. http://cmriedel.wordpress.com/2014/01/02/protagonist-rewind-clue/
I just HAVE to do this! Looks like fun! :D
You may remove #55, 62, 63. 'Real person' was rough! First it was a mentioned person, then I chose numerous peoplel, forgetting short stories were no go. I realized the person I settled on consisted of a cameo, not 'protagonist'. I linked my winner! I finished months ago but needed to compose reviews. :)
