AMMP February Word Hunt 2017

A Million More Pages discussion on goodreads

February Word Hunt 2017

February ~ Black History Month
African Americans have contributed a lot to our country. Many African American inventors created things we still use a variation of today. Here are just a few.
George Washington Carver may be the best known of the inventors. He created over 100 different uses for peanuts other than as a food. He also collected many recipes that use peanuts as a food source as well.
Garrett Morgan created a device that later became the gas mask used in WWI. His device was used to rescue several workers in a tunnel collapse in Cleveland, Ohio in 1916. He also developed a traffic signal that featured three commands instead of two, much like the ones in use today.
Madame C.J. Walker developed treatments for hair loss in African American women. She eventually built a million dollar business, becoming one of the first female millionaires.
Alexander Miles made elevator travel much safer by developing automatic elevator doors. Today's elevator doors are very similar to the ones he invented.
Granville T. Woods invented the induction telegraph system. The system allowed moving trains to communicate, helping them avoid collisions and dangers on the tracks and also allowed dispatchers to locate trains.
Dr. Patricia Bath invented the Laserphaco Probe, which she continued to perfect and later patented in 1988. The tool was used during eye surgery to correct cataracts, an eye condition that clouds vision and can lead to blindness. Dr. Bath's laser tool has helped restore or improve vision in patients worldwide.

**Due to numerous complaints, there will be TWO word lists.**

This month's difficult word list contains words that relate to African American inventions in some way. The easy word list comes from a fantasy novel.
Plurals are ok. Phrases need to be found as shown. 6 words per book, 5 words per badge, 30 words total.

Feel free to do either list... or BOTH if you want more of a challenge.
