Disappearing 4 Patch Quilt

I decided on making a Disappearing 4 Patch Quilt.  I like the look of the whole quilt.
I have started with a 7 inch square for the 4 patch block.

I have made about 22 4 patch blocks so far.....What do you do?  Cut everything, then sew...or a bit of this and a bit of that??  I get bored so I do what I feel like!! haha

Here's some of the 4 patch blocks I did so far....

I decided to cut and sew a block so Frank could see what I am doing...I think he was impressed....

I am trying to figure out how many completed blocks I will need to make for a quilt for my queen size bed...I am thinking at least 56.  I want the finished quilt to be about 100 inches long and 86 inches wide.  The finished block is 12 inches. If I do 8 blocks down and 7 blocks across, it will measure 96 x 84 before sewing the blocks together.  Then perhaps I will add a 6 inch wide border. Any suggestions??

New Project

I was lucky and found a sewing machine the other day - it was originally $450 and I got it for $100.  Good deal, right!!  Frank took me to our packed boxes and I found what was left of my quilting stuff.  I had to leave so much behind in Italy.

I have been scouring the internet for ideas for a quilt.  I have come up with either a Log Cabin Style or a Disappearing 4 Patch.
Here are my fabrics.

If I decided to do a Log Cabin or Courthouse Steps, I think this fabric will be the start.
So much to think about!!!!

We went to the Appalachian mountains...

We drove over to Lenoir NC today to look at some land.  It is beautiful country.  Can't imagine how great it would look in spring!  We decided afterward to drive further up Rt. 321 into the higher mountains.  We went up to the to which was at an elevation of about 3300 ft.  The city we live in is at 800 ft!

We stopped at a general store on the side of the road and took these photos.

It was very hazy but you can see the tops of the surrounding mountains.

I realized after we got home (and looking at a map) that we drove almost all the way to Tennessee.
Amazing day!

Advent Calendar

Whenever I could find Chocolate Advent calendars I bought them for my kids.  It's been harder and harder to find them anymore.  This year I lucked out and saw some at Trader Joe's.

Even though Sophia is 12 she still enjoys these!
Surprisingly, she did not open the first door this morning!

If you want to make one here are some links...
