Wings and Things

Way back in September I got a copy of Just Cross Stitch 2012 Special Collector's Issue Halloween.  Inside there are a ton of cross stitch projects that I want to make!
My younger daughter liked Wings and Things.  On a trip to Spring Robin in Salisbury, NC., I was happy to find that she had the fabric needed to make this, 32 count monster mash Belfast linen from Picture This Plus.  I was so excited.
I used  different threads than the directions called for. I used a bit more than 3 skeins of (so get 4) Simply Shaker Sampler thread  - Black Raspberry Jam 7021 from The Gentle Art. I used DMC  Satin Floss S976 or 30976.

I think it turned out well.

Christmas Stocking Finished!!

Here's a photo of Sophia with her stocking....she's hiding because she just woke up!!  It was extra dark because of the rain we got on Christmas!!  I think it came out ok.  But if I do one again I will finish it with double bias tape or quilt binding.  It is not stiff at all but Sophia liked it.

Christmas Runner Completed

I finished this runner well before Christmas but my husband had the camera at the shop and I forgot to take a photo when he brought it back.  I am happy about how it turned out. Just the right size for my table!  Hope y'all like it too!

In the background you can see my Christmas Cactus and my Christmas present - a tile lock Scrabble game!!

It had such beautiful blossoms!
My gram always had a Christmas Cactus.

Christmas Runner 2

I finally finished embroidering the snowmen.
I cut the snowman fabric and sewed the squares together.
I have 2 rows.

After I sewed the rows together.

Now I must decided what size to cut the
green fabric to surround this piece.

Christmas Table Runner

I decided that I need a Christmas table runner. In my tiny fabric stash I found 2 fabrics that will look good together.  One of the fabrics has a snowman on it.  I decided to embroider a snowman on muslin and design the runner around them.

I cut 6 inch squares from the muslin.
The snowman fabric was designed by Debbie Mumm.
I googled snowmen by Debbie Mumm and found one that looked like that fabric.
Then I enlarged the snowman until I got it the correct size for the square.

I have 3 snowmen squares finished.
Also shown the fabrics and the snowman design.

What's been going on?

I have been busy cross stitching like crazy.....finally when I wanted to post something we had a computer problem.  The computer was in the shop for a week with a memory chip failure.  Not my fault, yay!!

This is what I have been doing...

I finished this one and took it to a cross stitch shop called Spring Robin in Salisbury to get framed.  That took a month.  So glad to see it framed.  I think we picked the perfect frame for the subject matter!

I made 3 of these pumpkins.  I finished one and sent it to my mom for Halloween.  I was going to finish off the other 2 for Sophia to give to her friends but she thought it was lame!  oh well!!

I made this pirate sock monkey for Sophia.  She wanted it framed.  I think it is very cute.  I made another one and finished it off as an ornament and sent it to a friend.  I hope she received it by now!

Something Wicked by LA-D-DA

I love this chart!  It did not take long to make.  I cannot wait to get it framed!!!  LA-D-DA has some really cool charts for sale!! Make sure you take a look.  I want to get The Raven next....

I did stitch it on 35 Ct. Havana linen and used only DMC threads.

Do you know where this saying comes from??? It's a favorite of mine!

I started a Christmasy type chart 2 days ago...next post!
