READING, Pa. - After 23 years, Hershey is closing its Reading plant Friday, putting about 260 people out of work.
Hershey is moving production of peppermint patties, Fifth Avenue and Zagnut candy bars and Jolly Rancher hard candies from Reading to Mexico.
The closing was announced two years ago as part of Hershey's plan to cut 1,500 jobs and one-third of its production lines.
Some workers will stay on for a few more weeks to close down the plant.

If you eat peppermint patties, Fifth Avenue & Zagnut bars and Jolly Rancher candies, it will not be a "Made in America" product!
Actually, Hershey has been cutting back jobs ever since it bought the Luden's plant in Reading years ago.
